I agree. Credit card debt is the easiest and qickest way to get into financial trouble. Then you have all the added interest to pay on top of that. We only use our credit card when we know we can pay the bill off when it comes due. We have not carried debt over one month in over five years.

Auto bill pay is quite useful and I use that as well. I think what is most important is to avoid credit card debt which is something I was good about for years but then fell into a cycle of borrowing after college and moving out on my own. I’m still working to get rid of the debt completely and live completely off my debit card (i.e. actual money I have instead of borrowing from a credit card).

I think avoiding revolving debt accounts whenever possible is a good first step to managing finances.
